Visiting Boulders Beach: Hours, Fees and Access
Boulders is a section of Table Mountain National Park, so there is a gate, a daily fee and a season-by-season closing time. Get those three right and the rest of the visit looks after itself. Every fare and what it covers sits with the Boulders Beach tickets listings.
What you pay at the Boulders gate
SANParks charges a daily conservation fee rather than a ticket to one beach, and it is the same fee whichever of the reserve's entrances you walk through. For an international visitor on the tariff running from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2026 it is R245 for an adult and R120 for a child aged 2 to 11. Under-2s go free.

Several of the tours listed here name every park fee in their own fare, and more sell a fee-inclusive grade alongside the price you first see. The rest expect you to pay at the gate, which is why two fares that look ten dollars apart can be forty dollars apart by the end of the day.
South Africans and SADC nationals pay less
SANParks runs three bands. South African citizens and residents pay the lowest, SADC nationals sit in between, and everyone else pays the international figure above. Bring identification: the discount is claimed at the gate, not at booking. We publish only the international figure, because that is the band we could confirm against a current tariff.
Card only — there is no cash lane
You can also buy ahead through the SANParks reservations portal. It saves a short queue in the December and January weeks and nothing else, and one traveller here simply paid at the booth after the parks website gave trouble.
Gate hours change four times a year
This is the fact that catches people out, because the winter table closes at five in the afternoon while a summer visitor can still be on the boardwalk at seven.

How long you need, and when to walk in
An hour covers the Foxy Beach boardwalk and its viewing decks without hurrying. Two hours lets you walk the boardwalk, cross to the cove and sit with the birds for a while. The first hour after opening is the quietest of the day and the light is better; between about 11:00 and 15:00 in summer the boardwalk is busy enough that entry is paused in batches.
- Pay at the gate — card only, adult and child bands, receipt kept.
- Walk the boardwalk — about fifteen minutes end to end at a stroll.
- Stop at the decks — the last one sits directly over the colony.
- Cross to the cove — steps and sand, and the only place you may swim.

Covered outright
The fare names the park entrances in its own inclusions, so nothing is left at a booth. The private peninsula day is one of them.
A grade you choose
The listing sells a fee-inclusive option alongside the price shown. You settle the gates at checkout instead of on the day, and the difference appears in the total.
Paid on the day
Most fares work this way. The tour gets you there and waits; the conservation fee is yours at the gate, per person, by card.

Access, parking and what is at each gate
Foxy Beach
The raised timber boardwalk with ramps, the visitor centre, the shop and the toilets. This is the accessible route to the colony and the one every tour uses.
Boulders Beach
The sheltered swimming cove among the granite, reached by steps and sand. Penguins pass through; the colony itself is watched from the boardwalk, not here.
Seaforth
The third gate on the same reserve, with more parking and a short walk round to the others. Useful when the Kleintuin Road car park has filled.
Parking at both car parks goes from mid-morning in summer, and the overflow is street parking with a ten to fifteen minute walk. A guided day removes the problem entirely, which is covered on getting to Boulders Beach, and the gates themselves are set out on where Boulders Beach is.
